First livelihood assets distributed in Mawklot

Shillong, Jan 18: Bandhan Konnagar’s flagship initiative, the Targeting the Hardcore Poor program, in partnership with NABARD, successfully introduced the Graduated Rural Income Generation Program (GRIP) in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. The first round of livelihood asset distribution for beneficiaries under the Shillong branch took place today at the Mawklot village community hall.

During the event, local officials and community leaders emphasized the transformative potential of GRIP, highlighting its goal of raising income levels for the region’s most underserved populations. Attendees included Block Project Manager Mr Bahun Nongbri, Mawklot Village Headman M Nongneng, and NRLM representative Ms Carrie Shangpliang.

Speaking to beneficiaries, Mr Nongbri praised the positive impact of the initiative in improving economic opportunities for vulnerable families. Meanwhile, Ms Shangpliang of NRLM underscored the importance of continued collaboration to ensure the program’s long-term success.

With the first livelihood assets now in beneficiaries’ hands, the GRIP initiative aims to empower local communities, creating a sustainable pathway toward financial stability and prosperity across the East Khasi Hills.
