Road safety awareness campaign launched in city

Shillong, Jan 18: As part of National Road Safety Week, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Shillong in collaboration with Traffic Police of East Khasi Hills district launched a Road Safety Awareness Campaign on Friday.

The campaign, led by city traffic chief K Prasad, aims at addressing rising concerns about road safety and traffic management in Shillong.

On the first day, youth volunteers distributed informative pamphlets and assisted traffic police at high-traffic zones such as Khyndailad and Polo.

NYK Shillong deputy director D Rapsang emphasised on the campaign’s significance, stating, “This initiative provides a platform for youth to actively contribute toward creating a safer environment on our roads.”

The campaign, which will run up to January 23, is expected to witness more volunteers joining the initiatives, stated a press release.
