Guwahati, Jan 21: In a continued crackdown under Operation Praghat against fundamentalist networks and global terrorist organizations (GTOs), the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police arrested another wanted jihadi from Dhubri district on Tuesday.
The arrested individual has been identified as Ajibar Rahman (31), son of Berakata Sheikh, a resident of Chinamari village under Bilasipara Police Station in Dhubri district.
According to the ongoing investigation under STF PS Case No. 21/2024, STF has already apprehended 13 clandestine operatives, including Bangladeshi nationals, who were reportedly working under Md Farhan Israk, a close associate of Jasimuddin Rahmani, the chief of the extremist outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team.
Authorities have revealed that Md Sad Radi alias Shab Sheikh, a Bangladeshi national from Rajshahi, was also sent to India to propagate radical ideology among like-minded individuals across the country. Evidence suggests that their operations were meticulously planned to equip and strengthen extremist factions aiming to destabilize national security and sovereignty.
With this latest arrest, the total number of jihadi operatives arrested in Assam has risen to 14. The STF is continuing its probe to uncover the full extent of this terror network and its links across India.
