Swift response by Indian Army controls Tawang blaze

Tawang, Jan 26: In a rapid display of civil-military synergy, troops from the Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps rushed to Sakgyur village on Friday to combat a massive wildfire. Two fire-fighting columns were immediately mobilized after the Tawang administration sounded the alarm.

The blaze, which erupted near the Tawang Chu River and spread toward nearby villages, was contained through close coordination with the state administration. Local residents and police also pitched in, helping extinguish flames threatening residential areas.

No loss of life or property damage was reported. Although the fire near villages has been doused, the steep mountains and dense jungle continue to pose challenges, and efforts to fully extinguish the blaze are ongoing.
