Webinar for farmers, bankers concludes

Shillong, Mar 4: Farmers and bankers enthusiastically participated during a recently held webinar in the city, marking an important step towards ensuring better access to institutional credit for the farming community.

Attended by 45 farmers from two venues—35 participants from Shillong and 10 from Tura,  the webinar on “Enhancing Access to Institutional Credit through Kisan Credit Cards (KCC)” organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare helped participants gain crucial insights into the KCC scheme.

The event aims to provide affordable and accessible credit to farmers for agricultural needs, helping them meet their financial requirements for crop cultivation, purchase of seeds, fertilizers, and other farming inputs.

Bankers from various institutions, Lead District Managers (LDMs) from all districts, and the Convener of the State Level Bankers’ Committee attended the programme.

The event concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing gratitude for the information shared and a stronger understanding of how they can leverage institutional credit to improve their farming practices. The initiative is expected to benefit farmers across the state, fostering greater agricultural productivity and improving the financial stability of the farming community.
