Shillong, Mar 4: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home Prestone Tynsong stated that efforts are underway to locate Kasterbok Kharbuli, a resident of Sohryngkham, who has been missing since November last year.
Tynsong responded to a call from VPP Mawryngkneng MLA Heaving Stone Kharpran in the Assembly on Tuesday, stating that upon receiving the missing report on November 3, 2024, the police at the Sohryngkham outpost immediately launched an investigation and search operation.
A preliminary investigation was conducted and an alert message was issued to all officers in-charge and in-charges of police stations, outposts and beat houses across Meghalaya and Assam to trace and detain the missing person if found, he said.

Kharbuli, a mentally challenged individual, had been missing from his residence since 8.30 am on November 1, 2024.
He informed that a hue and cry notice was issued on November 11, 2024 and the special superintendent of police (CID), Meghalaya also circulated a look out notice to the Director Generals of Police of all states, commissioners of police, New Delhi & Chandigarh, Inspector Generals of Police of Lakshadweep, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Ladakh, and superintendents of police in all districts of Meghalaya.
“Despite all these efforts, Kasterbok Kharbuli has not yet been located, and the case is still under active enquiry. Efforts are being actively initiated to locate the missing individual, with coordinated search and investigation operations,” Tynsong said.
“Search and rescue teams are working together to cover all possible locations where the person may be found and are following up on any potential leads that may assist in determining the whereabouts of Kasterbok Kharbuli,” he added.
