Guwahati, May 27: Riding high on its sweeping victory in the recent Panchayat elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has shifted focus to the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) elections, slated for September 2025. With momentum on its side, the party is moving swiftly to cement its position across the BTR’s five key districts.

According to a BJP press release issued Tuesday, preparations are in full swing, with a well-coordinated deployment of ministers and senior leaders to oversee campaign efforts at the district level.

Minister Ashok Singhal and MLA Diplu Ranjan Sharma have been entrusted for Kokrajhar district, Minister Kaushik Rai and Ajay Rai for

Chiran, Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass and Ashok Bhattarai for Baksa, Minister Jayanta Mallah Baruah and Pulak Gohain for Baksa district

These leaders have already begun holding grassroots meetings, energizing local workers, and ramping up organizational activities to consolidate the party’s base across the region.

The BTR strategy session is scheduled for May 29, when the assigned ministers and party officials will meet Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia to finalize poll tactics.

Buoyed by back-to-back wins in the Panchayat and Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) elections, BJP cadres are working with renewed vigour to extend the winning streak into the BTR. The party’s confidence also stems from the developmental projects spearheaded by the Sarma-led government and a strong organizational network under state BJP chief Saikia.
