Shillong, Nov 5: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday denied the charge of poaching levelled by Leader of Opposition Dr Mukul Sangma.
Responding to the allegation, Sangma said the merger of UDP MLAs with BJP and NPP was their own decision.
“In this current situation, the MLAs from UDP decided to join BJP, and 3 out of 4 decided to join NPP. It was a decision that was made at their own level and when decisions were made without any pressure or any kind of force from our side,” he said.
Sangma said while it is a positive development for NPP, no pressure was exerted.
“We are happy that they have joined us and obviously as a political party it is a positive thing for us, but at no point in time any kind of force or any kind of convincing that had to be done to force them to join us,” he said.
“They have willingly and happily joined NPP,” he added.
