Newborn’s body found in Tura garbage dump, infanticide case suspected

Tura, June 9: In a suspected case of infanticide, body of a new born infant was discovered by municipal workers during garbage collection at Tura’s AOC road early Monday morning.

Municipal workers doing their morning rounds of garbage collection on a truck found the infant’s body inside a plastic bag whilw sorting waste on their truck.

They had picked up a pile of garbage from a corner near the AOC petrol station in Hawakhana and were proceeding towards the market area when the crew noticed the body in the bag.

On reaching the Tura police station they immediately alerted the police and the body was taken to the Civil Hospital for investigation. No arrests have so far been made and police are investigating the crime.
