Car set ablaze after violent clash in Garo Hills plains

Tura, June 9: An angry mob of villagers set a car on fire after its occupants entered the home of a man and violently assaulted him in the village of Bholarbitha, Phulbari, on Sunday night.

A group of 4-5 individuals allegedly stormed the home of Rasidul Islam around 9:45 PM, brutally assaulting him over an alleged case involving a woman.

Hearing his cries for help, villagers from the adjoining Puskunipara village rushed to his aid and managed to apprehend one of the suspects identified as Md Alom Ali (29 years) while the others fled, abandoning their car.

Furious with the forced entry and assault of their neighbour, the villagers set the vehicle on fire.

The victim, Rasidul Sk, injured in the attack, was promptly taken to Phulbari Community Health Centre for treatment by police who are in pursuit of the other attackers.
