Guv to hold bi-monthly reviews on TB elimination progress

Shillong, July 31: Meghalaya Governor CH Vijayashankar has announced a bi-monthly review meetings with the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) team to monitor and assess progress of the state team.

State Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM), Ramakrishna Chitturi, presented a detailed report on the progress of NTEP in Meghalaya. 

Chairing the review meeting at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday to address challenges, and accelerate efforts towards a TB-free Meghalaya, the Governor assured all necessary support from Raj Bhavan and committed to providing nutritional kits for 150 TB patients for six months.

He stated that service to society is a blessing and a sacred duty. “When we come together with compassion and determination, there is no challenge we cannot overcome.”

The Governor also called for intensified TB screening and testing, organisation of TB-specific health camps, timely disbursal of Nikshay Poshan Yojana benefits and nutritional kits, promotion of Nikshay Mitras to encourage voluntary participation, targeted interventions for vulnerable populations, and strengthened awareness campaigns in schools, colleges, and communities to reduce stigma and promote early health-seeking behaviour.
