CM inaugurates new infra project in Mairang, announces new DC office building

Shillong, Aug 12: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, today attended the inauguration of the Block Integrated Development Complex at the Mairang C&RD Block Office in Eastern West Khasi Hills District, alongside upgraded healthcare facilities at Tirot Sing Memorial Hospital, Mairang.

These include the Sick New Born Care Unit (SNCU), Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Adult Intensive Care Unit (AICU), and High Dependency Unit (HDU), all designed to strengthen local healthcare services and reduce the need for patients to travel long distances for treatment.

The Block Integrated Development Complex was inaugurated by traditional artist Marborsing Marbaniang in presence of Chief Minister and cabinet ministers Abu Taher Mondal, Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh and Shakliar Warjri. Also present on the occasion was Chairman State Planning Board, Metbah Lyngdoh.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s dedication to bringing essential services closer to the people and ensuring equitable development across all districts. He noted that these initiatives are part of a broader strategy to improve public service delivery, upgrade healthcare infrastructure, and promote balanced socio-economic growth.

He also outlined major investments made over the past seven years and announced plans for a new DC office in Mairang and a district Convention Center, including improved street lighting.

C&RD Minister Abu Taher Mondal spoke of the importance of collaborative governance in realizing these achievements while Shakliar Warjri stressed on how integrated development boosts both health and youth-related outcomes.

Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh commended this milestone in healthcare transformation and lauded the medical team for their commitment. She described the day as not only the inauguration of facilities but the continuation of a vision for accessible healthcare across Meghalaya.

Metbah Lyngdoh reflected on district formation and advocated for infrastructure upgrades, including road enhancement and lighting improvements.

The Block Integrated Development Complex will enhance administrative efficiency, while the new healthcare units—SNCU, PICU, AICU, and HDU—are equipped with up-to-date medical technology and staffed by trained professionals, making quality healthcare more accessible for residents of Eastern West Khasi Hills and beyond.
