‘Syringe attack’ on girl found to be false

Shillong, Sep 2: Police have clarified that the widely reported alleged syringe attack on a minor girl was false and it did not happen as reported in an FIR.

As per the allegation, two unidentified bike-borne individuals injected certain drugs on the minor girl near Bible Society of India, Jaiaw, on August 18.

The report sparked widespread concern and public apprehension and accordingly police acted on an FIR in this regard.

However, following a thorough investigation, police confirmed that the alleged incident did not take place as reported in the FIR.

Superintendent of Police (City), Vivek Syiem, said in compliance with legal procedures, a final report will be submitted before the competent court.
