Charles Pyngrope appointed Oppn chief whip

Shillong, Sep 18: Charles Pyngrope, the state president of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) and Nongthymmai MLA, has been appointed as the opposition chief whip in the state assembly.

“…Charles Pyngrope, a member of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly has been recognised by the Speaker as the opposition chief whip in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly with effect from September 15, 2025,” stated an official notification.

Welcoming the Speaker’s decision, the AITC said, “This is a significant step in further consolidating our presence and strengthening our role in Meghalaya. With this, we reaffirm our commitment to giving the people of the state a strong, responsible and people-centric opposition.”
