Shillong, Oct 7: A total of 21 out of 212 cases were successfully settled during the mediation drive organised by the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority.
The settled cases included matrimonial disputes, domestic violence cases, cheque bounce cases, service matters, criminal compoundable cases, and other suitable civil cases.
The mediation drive was held in collaboration with the High Court Legal Services Committee and the District Legal Services Authorities as part of the nationwide ‘Mediation for the Nation’ launched by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), in association with the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), Supreme Court of India.
A 90-day intensive drive was held to settle the pending cases in all the Sub-Divisional Courts, District Courts and the High Courts including District Council Courts in Meghalaya through Mediation, under the guidance of Justice HS Thangkhiew, Chief Justice (Acting) High Court of Meghalaya and Executive Chairman, MSLSA and Chairman, HCMC Justice W. Diengdah, Judge, High Court of Meghalaya and Chairman, HCLSC.
