KSU seeks regular appointment of teachers at SWKH school

Shillong, Oct 7: The Khasi Students Union has demanded appointment of two regular assistant teachers at the Nongrim Warding Government LP School under Mawsynram C&RD block.

The school, which was established in 1972, currently serves over 50 students without regular or permanent teachers since June 2025, alleges the KSU South West Khasi Hills district unit in a letter to the District School Education Officer, East Khasi Hills.

The school has been relying on volunteer teachers appointed by the School Managing Committee for the past four months following the demise of a regular teacher which the KSU terms as ‘unsustainable’ and said it jeopardizes the quality and continuity of learning for the children.

“Therefore, we most vehemently and urgently request that your esteemed office immediately facilitate the appointment of two regular Assistant Teachers for Nongrim Warding Government L.P. School,” the union stated in the letter.

“The absence of permanent teachers has already significantly impacted the students’ educational rights and their future prospects,” it added.
