Meghalaya HC orders NHAI to complete NH-6 road work by Nov 15

Shillong, Nov 5: The Meghalaya High Court has directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to complete the remaining road work of the National Highway-6 by November 15, 2025.

The order was passed on Tuesday by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Soumen Sen and Justice H.S. Thangkhiew while hearing a PIL filed by late Kynjaimon Amse.

The court took on record the status report filed by the Project Director, NHAI, and directed the parties, including the Amicus Curiae, to carry out a joint inspection of the road condition on or after November 15, 2025.

“On or after 15.11.2025, a joint inspection shall be carried out by the parties, including the Amicus Curiae and the report shall be filed on the returnable date,” the order of the bench stated. It directed to list the matter on November 26.

The Amicus Curiae, S Panthi, submitted that the road condition is yet to be improved, with some stretches still in a bad condition.

The court has granted a further remuneration of Rs 15,000 to the Amicus Curiae.
