Resubelpara, Nov 12: Kharkutta students, government officials, and local citizens symbolising collective commitment to unity and social responsibility took part in the Padyatra Unity March on Wednesday, covering a distance of 8 kilometers from Mendipathar College, Mendipathar, to Resubelpara Mini Stadium, Resubelpara.
The march was led by Kharkutta MLA Rupert Momin along with Dr Abhishek Saini, Deputy Commissioner of North Garo Hills, and Pawar Swapnil Vasantrao, Superintendent of Police, North Garo Hills.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Momin stated that the Unity March was organised to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. He stated that the event seeks to rekindle the ideals of Sardar Patel, who played a pivotal role in uniting the princely states of India into a single nation.

“India has transformed from a struggling economy to becoming the fourth largest economy in the world. Our nation has progressed in every sphere, but the major battle of this generation is the fight against drug addiction, and therefore efforts are on to make North Garo Hills a drug free district,” said Momin.
He also urged the youth to emulate Sardar Patel’s leadership and dedication to national unity.
In his address, Deputy Commissioner Saini encouraged the youth to live by the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and contribute to building a stronger, more united India.
The event concluded with renewed calls for unity, discipline, and commitment to the nation’s progress.
