KHNAM slams Govt over CM’s pic in tabs for Class XII students

Shillong, Nov 25: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has alleged that the state government’s “Mission for Youth Empowerment” has turned into a political campaign.

The party made the allegation while pointing out chief minister Conrad K Sangma’s picture pre-set as an “unchangeable wallpaper” of on the tablets received by class XII students on Monday.

“(We’re) surprised that the picture of Conrad K Sangma was set by default as wallpaper in the Tab and it cannot be changed. We have also seen in the past that even in ‘CM Guide Book’ the cover of the book has the picture of Conrad K Sangma,” KHNAM working president Thomas Passah said in a statement here.

“We see this as a political campaign and not as a youth empowerment initiative,” he alleged adding, “It is wrong for the CM to forcefully install his picture in tabs used by individuals moreover when such mission or schemes initiated by the government is at the expenses of exchequer and not at the expense of Shri Conrad K Sangma.”

Questioning the scheme’s utility, the KHNAM leader said, “However, whether these tabs will benefit the students or not is not sure, since it is reported that these tabs do not last long.”
