Meghalaya govt caps utility shift charges for NHIDCL

Shillong, Nov 27: The Meghalaya government has approved a proposal to standardize supervision establishment charges for utility shifting works in road development projects implemented by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

After chairing a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the move aims to regulate charges levied by agencies involved in utility shifting, which often vary significantly.

“Therefore, we felt that there is a strong need to have a standard charge. So, we have decided to cap the charges at 2.5% of the project cost,” Sangma said, adding that the standardization will ensure fairness and transparency in the process.
