Shillong, Dec 3: In what can be termed a landmark in digital innovation in Meghalaya, the Regional Al Impact Conference 2025 in Shillong concluded with overwhelming participation and landmark announcements.
This Conference, attended by over 700 participants from different sectors, is part of the national series of five Regional Conferences leading to the India-AI Impact Summit scheduled for February 2026.
Two significant MoUs were signed during the event jointly organised by state and Central government with IIM Shillong as knowledge partner. The MoU between Information Technology & Communication Department and IndiaAI Mission agreed to set up two Data & Al Lab in Meghalaya. The other MoU between Information Technology & Communication Department and MATH T-Hub agreed to set up a Satellite Incubation Centre in Shillong.
In his address, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma lauded IndiaAI Mission and MeitY for choosing Shillong as the regional host and emphasized that the Conference marks a major step forward for Meghalaya.
Reaffirming the state’s commitment to leveraging emerging technologies for inclusive and sustainable development, the Chief Minister said digital ecosystem plays an integral part to thrive in this digital era.
He also emphasised that data plays an equally important factor for a data driven governance.
Bhasini hackathon for Khasi and Garo training was also launched on the occasion.
Another platform, MeghDEE, was launched for co-creating digital innovation by engaging student, startups and government departments.
The third initiative launched during the event was Drishti-NE hackathon that seeks entries of innovation in the field of Al with a prize worth Rs 2.5 lakh.
Union MeitY minister Ashwani Vaishanaw congratulated Meghalaya for hosting the Regional Conference and mentioned about different initiatives of India’s AI Mission.
