Culprits of IED blast to be nabbed soon: CM

Shillong, Dec 19: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has assured that those behind the IED blast targeting Dhar Company at Shymplong in East Jaintia Hills will be put behind the bars soon.

“The police have made a very strong case, they have enough information and full evidence. Action has been taken, the police have been very swift, and those behind it will definitely be picked up,” Sangma told reporters on Friday.

The banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) had earlier claimed responsibility for the IED attack at Dhar Company, citing non-payment of extortion amount by the company.

Asked about the number of politicians, who were served demand notes by the HNLC, Sangma said he does not have any such details.

He also said the HNLC had made contradictory statements about payment of extortion amount by the company.

However, he assured that the government would not tolerate such actions and that the police have gathered sufficient evidence to act.

Police had earlier arrested two over‑ground workers of the outfit in connection with the blast and that they had confessed to planting the device.
