Shillong, Feb 17: Power Minister Metbah Lyngdoh has announced the government’s plan to tap the state’s thermal power potential, aiming to set up 550 MW of thermal power generation capacity.
Replying to a question tabled in the Assembly on Tuesday, Lyngdoh said, “The department is keen to tap its huge thermal power potential. The government is exploring the feasibility of establishing thermal power plants either under its own initiative, through private developers or under a joint venture arrangement.”
The planned capacity includes 250 MW under government or joint venture initiative and 300 MW through private developers, Lyngdoh added.
