MMDC coal depot leased for 30 years earns Rs 3 cr

Shillong, Feb 21: The coal depot owned by Meghalaya Mineral Development Corporation (MMDC), which was leased for 30 years and converted into a fuel station, has generated Rs 3.18 crore to date.

Constructed at Rs 4.25 crore, the coal depot was converted into a fuel station owned by lessee Rahul Khongsit.

Meanwhile, the MMDC has offered 5 acres for a cattle market project but shifted it to the Industrial Growth Centre, Mendipathar, due to feasibility issues.

The fuel station at Mawsmai (11th Mile) on GS Road near Jorabat was also allocated via tender.

This was informed by chief minister Conrad K Sangma in a reply tabled in the Assembly recently.
