Agatha Sangma honoured by Vice-President at TOI summit

Shillong, Feb 21: In a significant honour, former Union minister Agatha K Sangma was conferred “Distinguished Public Leadership Award – Governance & Inclusive National Development” at the Times of India National CSR Summit 2026 in New Delhi on Saturday.

The Shillong MP was formally presented the honour by Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan.

The award was part of the Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Honours segment, recognising leaders whose sustained contributions have significantly shaped public life and strengthened national development, according to a press release.

The citation acknowledged Ms Sangma’s distinguished public leadership marked by integrity and her significant role in advancing rural development, strengthening national governance, and promoting inclusive representation from India’s Northeast, it said.

It also noted her early distinction as one of the youngest Union Ministers and her sustained contributions to public discourse and inclusive development.

“Over the decades, Ms Sangma’s public life has reflected a consistent commitment to responsible governance, institutional strengthening, and equitable growth. Her leadership has been characterised by resilience, inclusivity, and a deep dedication to public service,” the release stated.
