Shillong, Feb 28: The state BJP has made a strong pitch for the “need of leaders who can make their voices heard in Delhi”.
The party’s state general secretary Wankitbok Pohshna while addressing a meeting of BJP Kisan Morcha at Nongpoh, called for Meghalaya to have leaders with influence in Delhi.
According to the party, hundreds of local people joined the party in the meeting.
“The time has come for Meghalaya and the Hynñiewtrep people to have leaders who can make their voices heard in Delhi,” Pohshna said, urging members to campaign in villages for alignment with the central government.
“We cannot solve the problems of the people unless we stand united body and soul with the central government,” he said.
He cited BJP-led Assam and other states as examples of progress without losing identity.
“If the people of Meghalaya give BJP a chance, they will receive many benefits… it is because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that people have already begun to receive their rightful shares.”
Pohshna also highlighted the Kisan Morcha’s role in supporting farmers and praised the Viksit Bharat GRAM-G scheme for its potential benefits to rural areas.
BJP district general secretary Bless Dkhar, Kisan Morcha president Durut Majaw and Yuva Morcha general secretary Daniel Khonglah were present.
