Shillong, March 10: The Leader of Opposition and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Mukul Sangma has lodged an FIR against former TMC MLA Estamur Mominin over a viral video allegedly containing the latter’s remarks that might trigger communal tension.
In the FIR filed at Phulbari police station on Tuesday, Sangma said the video showed Mominin addressing a gathering after he was allegedly assaulted at West Garo Hills deputy commissioner’s office that day.
Mominin went to file his nomination for the upcoming GHADC elections when the incident took place.
Sangma alleged that Momin might have made the remarks “unwittingly or intentionally to provoke certain groups and promote disharmony among groups.”
He also denied giving any kind of approval to Mominin’s nomination as the former MLA allegedly claimed in the video.
“No such discussion had occurred nor approval given by the undersigned or any representative on the undersigned’s behalf,” he said.
