CM endorses wife Mehtab for Gambegre, says public endorsement in her favor

Tura, Aug 10: The battlelines are drawn for Gambegre by election with the NPP president and chief minister Conrad K Sangma announcing his wife Mehtab Chandi Agitok Sangma as the party candidate at a public meeting on Saturday.

The chief minister clarified that Mehtab’s entry into the political fight came into being due to “overwhelming” demand for her candidature from the public of Gambegre.

“She (Mehtab) was never into politics. Even after our marriage she always stayed away from politics. But now, people from Gambegre are demanding that they want her to be their elected representative,” clarified the chief minister.

He said that a vote in favour of his wife would immensely benefit Gambegre constituency as the elected representative would have direct access to the chief minister.

“If elected, your MLA will have direct access to the chief minister to look into the problems of the constituency, and this is crucial because there is a lot of developmental work needed in Gambegre,” said the chief minister.
