Body of missing teenage girl found in South Garo Hills forest

Tura, July 15: The body of a fifteen year old girl who went missing five days ago has been found in a forest in Mahadeo region of South Garo Hills district on 14th July, in what is suspected to be a murder case.

Teenage girl went missing on July 11th afternoon, between 4-5 PM, and couldn’t be traced despite frantic search by her family and villagers. She hailed from South Garo hills near Mahadeo village under Rongara Development Block jurisdiction.

A missing report was filed by the family with police on July 12th leading to a large-scale search operation across the region. Her lifeless body was found in a stream by a forest in Mahadeo region itself.

Police are awaiting the post mortem report to ascertain the cause of her death and authorities are not ruling out anything, at this juncture.
