Information sought on abandoned newborn boy

Shillong, April 8: The authorities have sought information regarding an abandoned newborn boy, who was found outside the OPD gate of Ganesh Das Hospital at Lawmali here recently.

The newborn, who was found abandoned on March 23 at 8:25 PM, is currently under the care and protection of Lawei Baphyrnai Specialised Adoption Agency, Shillong, according to a statement issued by the District Child Protection Unit, East Khasi Hills on Wednesday.

The District Child Protection Officer has appealed to any person or relatives with information regarding the newborn to contact the authorities within two months, failing which the child will be declared legally free for adoption as per procedure.

Anyone having information about the newborn boy may contact District Child Protection Unit (0364-7962188), Child Welfare Committee (0364-7962188), or Lawei Baphyrnai Specialised Adoption Agency, Lumsohphoh (9612168593).
