Shillong, May 13: The “Nasscom Industry Leaders’ Meet 2026” will be held in Shillong on Thursday in a bid to position Meghalaya as the “Digital Hub of Eastern India”.
The event is aimed at attracting fresh investments into Meghalaya’s growing IT and IT-enabled Services (ITeS) sector and showcasing the state’s expanding digital infrastructure, according to a press release.
The meeting is expected to bring together top industry leaders and executives from major companies including Wipro BPS, Alorica, Tech Mahindra, Concentrix, Han Digital, Infosys BPM, Achala Solutions and TaskUs.
Officials said the industry leaders will participate in a roundtable chaired by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and interact with heads of educational institutions in the state to explore collaboration opportunities and workforce development initiatives.
Nasscom President Rajesh Nambiar will also attend the event.
As part of the programme, delegates will also visit the Shillong Technology Park at Umsawli in New Shillong Township.
The government said the first phase of Shillong Technology Park is already fully occupied by eight companies, including [24×7] ai, Techorb Digital, Sirobilt, Magic Works, Merit, Pursuit Software, HDFC Bank and Shamrock AI, collectively employing around 1,200 people.
The second phase of the technology park, spanning 1.8 lakh square feet, is expected to be ready in the coming months.
The Information Technology and Communication Department is currently working to attract more investments into the facility.
The state government said the initiative is expected to create more employment opportunities for Meghalaya’s youth and support the state’s target of building a USD 10 billion economy by 2028, with the IT/ITeS sector projected to contribute nearly US $1.76 billion.
