KSU issues fresh notice to contractors

Shillong, Aug 15:  The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Wednesday has issued a strict warning against contractors and employers from engaging Bangladeshi nationals as labourers, after the union apprehended 24 suspected Bangladeshi nationals from the international border in South West Khasi Hills district.

The KSU also warned stern action if the BSF and state authorities fail to take adequate measures against any illegal entry by Bangladeshi nationals into the state.

The KSU also urged the Border Security Force (BSF), police department and the district administration of South West Khasi Hills District to take necessary measures to prevent illegal entry of Bangladeshi nationals to Meghalaya in view of the ongoing unrest in that country. The KSU said the apprehended persons are highly suspected to be Bangladeshi nationals after they could not produce any valid documents, the KSU said adding that the union’s Ranikor Circle has immediately handed them over to the police for necessary action.
