Missing Umlyngka youth likely left on his own: EKH SP

Shillong, June 15: East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said Monday that efforts to trace David Osmond Lyngdoh Tron of Umlyngka Lumpongdeng are continuing, though leads received from different districts remain unverified.

“We have informed all districts. We got information placing him in different locations, but nothing was confirmed after verification. The search is still on,” Syiem told reporters.

He added that family members told police “he left on his own.”

The SP noted that missing person cases vary widely by age and circumstance.

“Young people mostly go out for jobs, some due to elopement, senior citizens due to mental health issues, others because of distress at home. Every case is different and cannot be put under one label,” he said.

Syiem also said about 40 missing person cases are currently pending in the district, with investigations ongoing.
