Undavalli (Andhra Pradesh), Jun 20: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Yoga guru Baba Ramdev participated in a Yoga programme here in Guntur district on Saturday.
The programme was held a day before the International Yoga Day on June 21.
Seated before the nearly 1,600-year-old caves in Undavalli village, overlooking the picturesque fields, Baba demonstrated various Yoga postures to the chief minister.
“CM Chandrababu Naidu witnessed a yoga practice programme under the guidance of Ramdev Baba, who explained different kinds of Yoga postures,” said an official press release.
Chakrasanam, Vrushchikasanam, Mayurasanam, Hanumanasan, Raj Kapothasanam and power Yoga were demonstrated by Ramdev, who complimented Naidu as a leader with vision and development.
According to the Yoga guru, the CM is working towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat (developed India) dream, the press release added.
Thanking Baba for taking Yoga to people, Naidu noted that he has been promoting technology for 30 years while the former was doing the same with Yoga.
“We have to go forward with the motto ‘technology without addiction’, spirituality and yoga will help,” Naidu said addressing the early morning Yoga programme.
Highlighting that PM Modi got international recognition for Yoga, he said 190 countries are conducting International Yoga Day programmes.
Naidu called upon people to cooperate with PM Modi, who is working towards achieving “Viksit Bharat through spirituality.”
Following the grand hosting of the 11th Yoga Day in Vizag in 2025, Naidu underlined that this year it will also be organised in a bigway in Amaravati.
“Taking Yoga into every home is our goal. We will take it to everybody as a mission,” he said, adding that the southern state will work with Baba towards this endeavour.
Habituating the current generation to Yoga will lead to giving them a wonderful future, he said.
Naidu said Yoga is a valuable gift to the world, which can ease mental tension and enhance concentration.
The CM said Yoga will be integrated into public health through Sanjeevani, a health record digitisation programme, which prioritises disease prevention over curing it.
Further, Naidu said Amaravati will be built as a “Hyderabad plus” city to make it a healthy, wealthy, happy and spiritual place. (PTI)
