Two sisters drown, 3 girls missing while bathing in Ganga river in Bihar

Munger, Jun 24: Two sisters drowned, and three others went missing while taking a bath in the Ganga river in Bihar’s Munger district on Wednesday, police said.

The incident occurred at Shyampur ghat under the Mufassil Police Station limits, a senior officer said.

“Five girls, all aged between 10 and 16 years, were bathing at Shyampur ghat. Four of them were siblings, while one was from another family. The rescue team has so far recovered two bodies. The search for the remaining girls is going on,” Mufassil SHO Bipin Kumar Singh told PTI.

The girls whose bodies were recovered were aged 16 and 12 years and were daughters of Kranti Paswan, he added.

“The recovered bodies would be sent for post-mortem examinations,” Singh said. (PTI)
