Tura, June 25: The West Garo Hills District Police have recovered and returned 42 lost mobile phones to their rightful owners over the past eight months, restoring not just expensive gadgets but also treasured memories and vital personal data.
The recoveries were made through the dedicated efforts of two personnel from Tura Police Station—head constable T R Marak and head constable D T Sangma. Marak successfully traced and recovered 24 mobile phones, while Sangma recovered another 18.
Police officials said the recoveries were the result of patient investigation, technical tracking and sustained follow-up, underscoring a lesser-known aspect of policing that directly impacts the everyday lives of citizens.
The West Garo Hills District Police have urged the public to promptly report lost or missing mobile phones and other valuables to the nearest police station, outpost or beat house, noting that timely reporting significantly increases the chances of successful recovery.
