Shillong, June 29: Police have registered a case in connection with a viral video in which a man is seen brutally assaulting a woman on Nongstoin Bypass road.
In the undated video, the man was attempting to strangle the woman, repeatedly slapping her, and trampling her on the head.
Following widespread online outrage caused by the undated video, West Khasi Hills police registered a case against the unidentified person.
An investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the assault and to identify and apprehend the accused, a police official said.
