Shillong, June 29: Thirty-two meritorious students from the Ri-War Shella region were felicitated for their performance in the SSLC Examination 2026 at the Tur Shaphrang Academic Excellence Award programme held at Mawlong by the Hynniewtrep Youth’ Council – Shella Area Unit, Umwai Unit and Jatap Unit.
Students, teachers from various schools, parents, guardians and village elders attended the program.
In his address, HYC Central executive council president Roy Kupar Synrem congratulated the awardees for their outstanding achievements. He commended the students for their hard work, determination and dedication, and also lauded the efforts of parents, teachers and well-wishers whose support contributed to their success. He urged the students to pursue higher education and continue striving for excellence in all spheres of life.
Addressing the gathering, the Headman of Shella village stressed the importance of education, discipline and perseverance in shaping the future of the younger generation.
Donbor Marbaniang, an elder from Tyrna Village, also spoke on the occasion, encouraging students to stay committed to their studies while upholding cultural values and traditions.
The 32 students from various schools across the Ri-War Shella region were presented with mementos and cash awards in recognition of their performance in the SSLC Examination 2026.
The HYC Shella, Umwai and Jatap units extended gratitude to donors, educational institutions, community leaders and volunteers for their support in conducting the programme.
