DREAM director urges young athletes to staff away from drugs

Dream Elite Pre-Season Summer Basketball Camp 2026 concludes

Shillong, July 12: DREAM Director Francis Kharshiing has asked players to pursue sports for a healthy, drug-free future while reaffirming the mission’s commitment to youth empowerment and the campaign.

Addressing the athletes during the Dream Elite Pre-Season Summer Basketball Camp 2026 on Saturday at Pearly Dew School, Jaiaw, Kharshiing encouraged them to dream big, stay disciplined, and use sports as a pathway to a healthy and meaningful future.

Organised by DREAM with Dubakh Sports Pvt Ltd and supported by the Department of Social Welfare, the 2-week camp saw over 100 players from Shillong and nearby areas compete in 5 championship finals despite intermittent rain.

The message was echoed in a drug awareness skit and musical performance by the DREAM team under the theme: “Be the Generation that Says No to Drugs. Prevention is Power.”

Dr Tosanlang Kharsati, Principal of Pearly Dew School, gave the welcome address, while Barihunlang Wankhar, Headmistress of Emjay Secondary School, lauded the initiative and urged students to balance academics with sports.

All participants received certificates, camp T-shirts and lunch.

Ethan Alrico Ryntathiang, MD of Dubakh Sports Pvt Ltd, delivered the vote of thanks.
