Shillong, Sept 29: NPP state president and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has asserted that the party remains fully united and faces no threat from its junior alliance partner BJP, which is on an expansion mode.
Speculations were rife about rift in the ruling NPP following merger of eight UDP MLAs with the BJP recently.
“No, I don’t see any threat at all,” Tynsong told reporters on Tuesday while responding to queries on BJP’s expansion bid posing a threat to the NPP.
Asked if any MLA is set to join NPP, he said, “As of today, no.”
Asserting unity in the party led by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, he said, “Being the president of the party, I just want to tell you one thing… it is 101 per cent, 33 NPP MLAs are intact.”
“We don’t have any misunderstanding and there is no one also who intends to come out of NPP,” he said.
On whether BJP has asked for cabinet expansion, he said, “No such conditions.”
