Ajay Devgn-led ‘Dhamaal 4’ opens at Rs 15.50 crore nett in India

Mumbai, Jul 11: Ajay Devgn-starrer “Dhamaal 4” has made a strong start at the domestic box office, collecting Rs 15.50 crore nett on its opening day in India, the makers announced on Saturday.

Production banner T-Series shared the film’s first-day collection on its official social media handles.

Directed by Indra Kumar, the fourth instalment of the hit “Dhamaal” franchise reunites fan-favourite characters Adi and Manav, played by Arshad Warsi and Riteish Deshmukh, alongside Devgn, Jaaved Jaaferi and Sanjay Mishra.

According to the makers, the film has benefited from positive audience response and word of mouth following its release on Friday.

“This madcap and laugh-out-loud comedy, with the return of fan-favourite duo Adi and Manav bringing back a wave of nostalgia for audiences, has found a treasure of its own at the box office, raking in an impressive Rs 15.50 crore nett on day one in India,” T-Series said in a statement.

“Dhamaal 4” follows a group of eccentric, money-hungry misfits racing against each other to find a mythical treasure hidden on a remote island. Their quest takes an unexpected turn when they encounter a bumbling crew of modern pirates who are also searching for the treasure, as per the official logline.

“Dhamaal 4” is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with Devgn Films. It is produced by Devgn, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Ashok Thakeria, Indra Kumar, Anand Pandit and Kumar Mangat Pathak.

The “Dhamaal” franchise began with the 2007 hit of the same name, followed by “Double Dhamaal” (2011) and “Total Dhamaal” (2019), establishing itself as one of Bollywood’s most successful comedy series.

The fourth chapter also features Esha Gupta, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Anjali Anand, Upendra Limaye, Vijay Patkar and Ravi Kishan. (PTI)
