Assam Rifles Sentinels Cup Football Tournament 2026 kicks off in Shillong

Shillong, Feb 17: The 4th Edition of the Assam Rifles Sentinels Cup Football Tournament (Men & Women) 2026 was inaugurated by Maj Gen Jai Singh Bainsla, SM, on Tuesday.

“The tournament is a testament to Assam Rifles’ commitment to promoting sports, youth engagement, and community bonding in the North East,” Maj Gen Bainsla said during the inauguration.

The tournament features eight teams each in the Men’s and Women’s categories, competing in a league-cum-knockout format.

The opening match saw Assam Rifles Football Team securing a 5-0 victory over Laitkor FC in the Women’s Category.

The tournament aims to promote healthy lifestyles, inspire youth, and channel young energy towards positive pursuits.

“Sports is a powerful tool to bring people together and promote nation-building,” said Maj Gen Bainsla.

The finals will be held on February 27, 2026, at SSA1 Grounds, Polo, with winners receiving ₹3 lakh and the Assam Rifles Sentinels Cup Trophy.
