Assam Rifles to strengthen vigil along Indo-Myanmar border

Shillong, Nov 4: The Assam Rifles, which mans the Indo-Myanmar border, has reviewed security arrangements along the crucial international border and discussed measures to deal with future security challenges in the region.

Addressing the Assam Rifles Inspector General’s Conference, Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, asked the force to be prepared for contingencies while maintaining security and sanctity of the Indo-Myanmar border.

The conference attended by Formation Commanders and Battalion Commanders among other senior officers at the Assam Rifles headquarters at Laitkor, Shillong, concluded on Tuesday.

It focused on enhancing the force’s capability and combat potential, with discussions on acquiring new-generation weapon systems and military equipment.

Lt Gen Lakhera complimented the force for their professional conduct and performance under challenging circumstances, highlighting the need for continued vigilance in a volatile environment.

The conference provided a platform for sharing best practices, lessons learned, and emphasizing training and skill development of soldiers.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment to uphold operational readiness and strive for excellence in all spheres, with attendees pledging to maintain peace and tranquillity in their respective areas of responsibility.
