BJP for Central role to end GHADC crisis

Shillong, Sep 5: The state BJP has advocated for a tripartite discussion between the Central government, the state government and the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) to find a definite solution to the problems plaguing the Council.

“We hope that across the table both the state and the Council as well as with the involvement of the union government, they should come up with a definite solution on how to go about things so that such do not repeat themselves,” BJP state general secretary Wankitbok Pohshna told reporters on Friday.

He was responding to a query on the ongoing protest by GHADC employees over non-payment of salaries for past 44 months.

Emphasising on the discussion between all the three stakeholders, Pohshna said the GHADC should have an internal discussion as well to determine the way forward and potential solutions.
