Guwahati, May 22: The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched its campaign roadmap for the 2026 Assembly elections and upcoming local body polls, passing a ‘Victory Resolution’ during an extended state office-bearers’ meeting held in Jorhat on Thursday.

Chaired by Assam BJP president and MP Dilip Saikia, the high-level meeting brought together district presidents, in-charges, ministers, MPs, MLAs, and state office-bearers. The gathering congratulated party workers for the sweeping win in the recently concluded Gaon Panchayat elections and vowed to continue the momentum in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Sonowal Kachari and Mising Autonomous Councils, Silchar Municipal Corporation, and to the 2026 Assembly elections.

Speaking to the press, BJP spokesperson Subhash Dutta said the meeting focused on grassroots consolidation, with clear directives issued to strengthen booth- and mandal-level structures across the state.

Under the theme of organizational discipline and strategic focus, party leaders emphasized coordinated efforts guided by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Pabitra Margherita, state in-charge Harish Dwivedi, and General Secretary (Organisation) B. Ravindra Raju. The leadership stressed the need to build on the developmental record and public trust to ensure a third consecutive BJP-led government in Assam.

The meeting adopted a thanksgiving resolution recognizing the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President J.P. Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and CM Himanta Biswa Sarma for the 2025 Panchayat victory.

The meeting also adopted a defence appreciation resolution, lauding “Operation Sindoor” as a testament to India’s military might and PM Modi’s decisive leadership.

To operationalize the action plan, the BJP will hold District Executive Meetings in all organizational districts from May 28 to June 5, with a focused push in the five organizational districts within the BTR.

Describing the meeting as a “launchpad for absolute victory,” BJP leaders have framed the Jorhat gathering as the start of an eight-month mobilization strategy aimed at cementing the party’s dominance across Assam.
