Tura, Aug 6: Search and rescue teams have on Wednesday afternoon retrieved the body of missing agriculture officer, Teseng M Sangma, after four days of frantic search operations. The officer went missing on Sunday afternoon after being swept away by water currents during an outing with his family to the Ganol river side at Sella Wari, outside of Tura.
Search teams located his body at Banseng Wari, near Wa Wari, further downstream from the place he went missing.
Teams from the Fire and Emergency service, Tura police and expert village divers were pressed into service to try and locate the missing person.
Due to darkness and strong water currents, search operations could take place only during day time.
Rivers across Garo Hills, including the Ganol river, where Sella Wari is located, has been in spate following heavy rains across the region Since last Saturday.
