
Shillong, Apr 11: In a bid to strengthen security along the inter-state border with Assam, a new border outpost was inaugurated at Mooriap in East Jaintia Hills district on Friday.

The outpost under Saipung C&RD Block was inaugurated by Sutnga-Saipung MLA Santa Mary Shylla in presence of Sumer MDC K Langstang.
In her address, the MLA recalled the expressed the hope that the BOP would create a sense of security and stability for residents in several villages, including Mooriap, Umkyrpong, Lakasein, Samasi, Mynthlu, Kremmyrsiang, Pala, Mynthning and others.

She also stressed on the importance of initiating developmental works in the border areas and sought collaborative efforts by various government departments for welfare of the border residents.
In his address, East Jaintia Hills DC Shivansh Awasthi informed about the Police Infrastructure Renovation Fund (PIRF) through which better assets are being created for the police department.

He also took the opportunity to express concern over the issue of child marriage and urged the people to report such incidents to authorities concerned.
East Jaintia Hills SP Giri Prasad, ASP S Paslein, public prosecutor S Pdang, Daloi Elaka Sumer K Mannar, and traditional heads of Lakasein and Umkyrpong villages among others also attended the occasion.
