CBCI National Award conferred on CM Conrad

Shillong, Feb 9: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma was conferred the CBCI National Award 2026 along with 18 other awardees in Bengaluru on Monday.

The newly constituted national award was presented during the 37th CBCI (Catholic Bishops Conference of India) general body meeting held at St John’s Medical College, Bengaluru.

Expressing his gratitude for the award, Sangma said, “This award instituted by the CBCI reinforces in us the belief that the work we are doing holds value and makes a difference and it motivates us to bring out the values that the church teaches us.”

“The CBCI National Awards honours individuals who have rendered exceptional service to the Church, society, and the nation, embodying Gospel values and making significant contributions to human dignity, justice, education, leadership and innovation,” stated a press release.

The Chief Minister acknowledged the contribution of the Catholic church in shaping the youth especially in the North Eastern region and assured of working together with the church.

“These are challenging times faced by churches in different parts of the country but we will work together,” he said and urged the Catholic youth and Christian youths to become leaders not only in politics but in various other fields.
