Shillong, Sept 28: In a huge relief for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students of Meghalaya, the Centre has released Rs 94.03 crore as the balance installment of their Post-Matric Scholarship for 2025-26 academic session.
Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs released the amount to the state government under the Centrally Sponsored Post-Matric Scholarship scheme for ST students.
Announcing the release, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma expressed gratitude to the Centre, while saying that the state government would work to expedite and streamline the disbursement of the scholarship to eligible students.
The amount has been released as a drawing limit under the mother sanction for 2026-27 financial year.
The scholarship supports ST students pursuing education after matriculation and is intended to help meet education-related expenses.
