CM Conrad announces Mini Secretariat at Amlarem

Shillong, Nov 10: With the launch of its golden jubilee celebration, Amlarem Civil Sub-Division in West Jaintia Hills district has now one more reason to celebrate. In a huge announcement for the region, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday declared that a Mini Secretariat will be set up in Amlarem.

“We have discussed and decided that the Mini Secretariat will be sanctioned for Amlarem. Let me assure you that the sanction will be done as soon as possible,” the Chief Minister said while taking part in the opening ceremony of year-long golden jubilee celebration of Amlarem Civil Sub-Division.

Terming Amlarem as one of the oldest sub-divisions, he said, “It definitely deserves a Mini Secretariat.”

He also assured that efforts will be made to start work for the Mini Secretariat within this year of golden jubilee celebration.

Informing that various welfare initiatives and public amenities will be upgraded in Amlarem Sub-Division area, he announced that Rs 16 crore has been sanctioned for upgradation of the water supply system.

He further informed that based on the MLA’s request, the government has approved funds for construction of internal roads within the sub-division.

“I hope that within this one-year celebration period, construction work for the internal road renovation will be completed,” he said.

He added that there are other interventions which will be worked out for the area, but for now, three major concerns of the Sub-Division are being addressed by the government.

He also announced a contribution of Rs 20 lakh from the CMSG for the golden jubilee celebration.
